Shakey Angles

This shooting buzz is going nuts.. I haven't put the camera down in the last 3weeks.. Its been so good..
I shot this spot from the land the last time and was super keen to get some better angles.

I spent the day with Dave Blount, Peter Conroy, Cillian Ryan and my new dance partner Glyn Ovens. Was lucky enough to shoot from Dave's ski and got some insane new angles.. Have to say holding my most expensive lens & brand new camera body out there on a jetski with no water housing at all was pretty sketchy..
Getting used to shooting on a ski is tricky too.. You got to account for the shakeyness of the swell as your shooting.. But it was so worth it..
Here are some ok ones.. The gems are kept for the mags

I should start hanging around with Dave more.. I learned a lot about the spot from just being around him today.. stoked!! Cheers for the ski blounty!!!
Until the next time.. yewww

48GB of madness

I have had a mental week..
Iv seen one one of my friends drop into the biggest waves he's ever ridden,
A mental heavy paddle session at Rileys,
Some nuts surfing at Dustys and
One of the biggest Aileens iv ever shot with perfect light and some epic conditions..

It been good times with Mitch, Tom and Egor over from England for some waves and laughs...
As well as some Spanish Pros ripping it up..
Not forgetting local lads like Stephen Kelleher, Ollie Flaherty, Peter Conroy and Donough Cronin all showing them how its done..

Iv filled every memory card every day.. sometimes running home to empty some and getting back out there..
Its been good and im knee deep in roughly 48GB of photos.. Happy days!!! :)
Im buzzing with the gear iv got..

Heres two just to get you keen to see more..

If A Picture Says A Thousand Words Then His Say Millions..

Mickey Smith..
What can i say about Mickey..

In my eyes the most talented lens man in the world..
I am lucky enough to know mickey and am privileged to be able to shoot along side the man from time to time.

Mickey puts himself in situations were only the slightly insane will venture.. And because of this insanity he produces images that the surfing world is blown away by on a monthly basis..
I have so much respect for this man in so many ways.. His knowledge of the ocean ways, his talent and his drive, but where Mickey gains most of my respect is from the mans love for what he does..
He lives to love his life..

About 6 months ago Mickey and the extremely talented Allan Wilson published this short..
DARK SIDE OF THE LENS is an insight into Mickeys life as a photographer.. Even someone not into photography or surfing can appreciate this.. I have watched this easily close to 100 times..

I hope that one day someone sees me and i come across like this.. A man in love with what he does and not in it for fame or glory but in it for experience, adventure and love..

If i become a quarter of what Mickey Smith is then i will be happy..

Well done Mickey!!

New 7D!!!

Yeoowww
So happy.. Picked myself up a 7D earlier in the week.. The thing in iinnnnsane!!!
The quality is mind blowing and i can now shoot some HD 1080p Vid..
Both Vid & Image quality are blowing my mind.. i cant wait to get out on an adventure with it.. Its super fast too with 8 Flips a second..

Hopefully il get to test it out on some good waves before the winter is out.. I kept looking at the video and thinking wow.. that would be a cool picture.. i think im def more a photographer than a video guy but saying that... When the options there im sure il use it..
Heres a short clip i did the second day i had it.. Yess my friends and I are a bit mad...
The manual focusing is hard to get used to but its all practice... I like the in/out effect of the focusing..

Would love to know what you think of this..
